The Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) Workforce Online Reporting Knowledge System (WORKS) will function as a single portal of entry for workforce education and professional development to collect, report, and track child care workforce information needed to support education requirements. WORKS will also enable DCDEE to continue to comply with state child care licensure statutes, and promote and coordinate educational programs and materials designed to improve the quality of child care available in the state.

Staff in all child care positions must meet minimum education requirements. Previously, Education Evaluation Specialists in the Early Education Branch, Workforce Education Unit of DCDEE, assessed the education of individuals working in child care using paper applications in order to determine their qualifications. WORKS is designed to streamline education evaluation, using a web-based process designed to increase efficiency with which staff can process child care provider applications.

DCDEE WORKS Maintenance

DCDEE WORKS will be unavailable daily between the hours of 5-7 a.m. for a brief maintenance update. We apologize for any inconvenience.

DCDEE WORKS Release Letter

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) is pleased to announce the release of a new web portal, the DCDEE Workforce Online Reporting and Knowledge System (WORKS).

Staff in all N.C. childcare positions must meet minimum education requirements. Previously, all paperwork needed to support education requirements had to be submitted to the DCDEE Workforce Education Unit for evaluation purposes. Effective Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, with the exception of official transcripts, paperwork will be uploaded using WORKS. The public portal includes a self-service component known as the applicant portal. The DCDEE WORKS applicant portal enables an individual applicant to register and maintain their workforce information to support education requirements.

DCDEE WORKS requires that the user maintain an individual NCID user name and password. The first time the user logs into DCDEE WORKS with their NCID, they will be prompted to create their DCDEE WORKS account. Once the account is created, the documentation submitted through DCDEE WORKS will be associated with the account. Individuals who have previously submitted documentation to the DCDEE Workforce Education Unit for purposes of evaluation should not need to upload the previously submitted documentation; this information will be associated with your individual DCDEE WORKS account after it has been established.

The portal is available online and may be accessed via the following link: https://dcdee.works.nc.gov/
